Okanagan Food & Wine Writers Workshop showcases Kelowna this April

Have you always dreamed of writing about food and wine, but have never known quite where to start? Or are you a well-seasoned writer who needs a little inspiration to keep your stories fresh in 2013? Then the Okanagan Food & Wine Writers Workshop (OKFWWW) is just the thing to sink your teeth into this April.

This annual workshop, now in its fourth year, takes place at locations around the Okanagan valley of British Columbia and will be showcasing beautiful Kelowna from April 28th to May 1st at the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort & Conference Centre. The workshop features sessions by Canada's top food & wine writers and magazine editors, paired with incredible food and wine experiences around the Kelowna area. The OKFWWW was founded by and is produced each year by Canadian local food hero Jennifer Cockrall-King, author of Food and the City: Urban Agriculture and the New Food Revolution.

I had the great pleasure of attending the OKFWWW in 2010 and enjoyed every moment (Exhibit A: the photo above, which was one of our "box lunches", incredible). The workshop gives new and aspiring food & wine writers and cookbook authors helpful information about how to break into the business, and provides seasoned writers with up-close and personal interactions with tourism, winery and restaurant representatives that help fuel ideas for future stories and articles. Not to mention the workshop's many hands-on culinary and wine experiences, which are to die for. From heavenly food and wine pairing meals to intimate conversations with some of British Columbia's best chefs, wineries and fine food purveyors, the workshop provides attendees with a well-rounded and unforgettable Okanagan food and wine experience.

This year's workshop has yet another amazing agenda planned, with everything from winery, garden and vineyard tours to knife skills demonstrations and local seafood sampling. Workshop attendees will receive a special rate for accommodations at the waterfront Delta Grand Hotel, recently ranked as one of the Top Waterfront Hotels in Canada by

The workshop is limited to 30 participants, so registering early is encouraged. To encourage you further, there is a special Early Bird rate available until March 15.

I can't say enough about what a great opportunity the The Okanagan Food & Wine Writers Workshop is for anyone who has a passion for food & wine writing to learn more about honing their craft while experiencing everything that Okanagan Wine Country has to offer.
